A Weekend in the Lake District

If you know anything at all about the Lake District, then you know that there is a lot of fun to be had when spending a weekend there. It is easy to put together a mini holiday in the Lake District, you simply need to find a list of good yet cheap hotels and then learn about the cool places to visit during the weekend breaks you decide to take.

You may live in or near the area, you may be driving in for the weekend, or you might even be travelling from other parts of the world. No matter where you are coming from, you might want to consider visiting the following attractions while you are staying at one of the cool, cheap hotels in the Lake District.

The Zoo

The Lake District Wild Animal Park is a great place to visit during your weekend breaks to the Lake District. It is inexpensive, it is a great way to get some exercise and to release stress, and it is a fun way to connect with nature.

The Museum

Every city has one, and each museum is different so they are all worth visiting. Usually you can get in and get out in just an hour or two, so it’s a fun way to have a little fun when you are trying to fill some down time.

See a Show

There are plenty of theatres to choose from so find one that offers a show that pertains to your interests and go enjoy it. In fact, this is one of those attractions that you can plan your entire weekend break around. Another idea is to spend the entire weekend watching shows at local theatres.

See a Concert

You might find a fun concert that features your favourite musicians or singers to attend. When you do, there’s a good chance that you can find even better deals at the nearby hotels which will make your getaway even less expensive overall. Carmina Burana, Brian Adams as well as Hear and Now are just a small sampling of who you might find playing near the Lake District.

Have a Picnic

There are several parks in and around the area where you can enjoy an afternoon just reading a book, having some lunch, and maybe even taking a nap. If you are with a friend, loved one, or family, you can play some ball or laugh it up while taking in the ways. The local park is a perfect place to feel like a child again.

Volunteer Somewhere

Want to feel good about yourself aside from saving money on accommodation during your breaks? Consider finding a place to volunteer. This can be the local library, a shelter, a children’s program, or even the community centre. You might be surprised at how good just a couple of hours of community service can make you feel.
