The many styles and genres of music from around the world add to the diversity to be offered from different regions. Musical compositions of varying forms have united persons of all walks using a melodious language they can all understand. Various musical forms can be had on each continent worldwide.

Different regions worldwide offer different musical forms to be enjoyed by the masses. For example, in Africa there is a musical heritage grounded in the culture and oral traditions of the people. The diversity in the musical styling reflects the diversity of the African nation and peoples themselves.

For example, in North Africa, folk music best describes the musical styling that exist thereof. The musical styles found in the countries of North Africa is unlike that which is found in South Africa. Among the nations and tribes of South Africa, there is a mixture of some folk forms with that of popular forms. These popular forms in South Africa are based on harmonic Mbaqanga, Zulu, Singing and Isicathamiya.

Europe has contributed classical musical genres that continue to impact us today. This includes world renowned composers such as Vivaldi, Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven and Richard Strauss. Added to the already impressive list of composers that come out of the European continent are a host of talented contemporary opera singers the likes of Luciano Pavarotti and orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestras.

The most popular musical forms we enjoy today are in large part due to the North American Musical fraternity. Largely influenced by ballads from the old Scottish, Irish folk and English traditions along with some Mexican influences, North America has given us American Western. American Western as the name suggests has developed on the North American west coast region.

American Western is most often placed alongside the Country musical genre. For this reason it is often referred to as the Country and Western genre. Jazz, Soul, Rhythm and Blues (R&B) are among the many other genres. These musical styles are also found on the North American continent in the south-eastern regions.

The musical contributions are also found within the African diaspora of the Caribbean and South America. From the Caribbean we have a range of musical forms including Reggae, Zouk and Calypso. In South America Salsa is a popular musical genre. The varied kinds of music from around the world offer unique and varied expressions and a voice for everyone.
